Yellow-spot Ladybird Coccinula quattuordecimpustulata
Thirty one letters in the scientific name! This is why all ladybirds need an English vernacular name.
This species is on the British list but I have no further details.
Identification Length 3.0-4.0mm
Black with yellow spots.
Pronotum pattern similar to 14-spot Ladybird, mostly black with a wavy edged white front section.
The yellow and black colour on the wing cases is also similar to 14-spot, although the pattern is reversed with yellow spots on a black background. This resembles some 10-spot Ladybirds of the form decempustulatata, except it has four round spots on each side of the central line.
